Updated rose painting!

I took away the red and did a tribal black design. Don't ask what it means, it is the look that was important, and I just made up the design. I like it much better this way, but I think there is more work to be done. What do you think??

Rose Painting

Well here are a couple of pics of my latest work in progress. It is oil on masonite panel, and is completely original. I may do some color changes but I like the rose and the design. It is taking forever to complete, I guess I have been paying more attention to my paying job LOL.

Self portrait updated and drawing

I have done some improvements to my self portrait, and I am also posting a drawing I did, not original, but for someone else. Its not my thing, the smile now cry later pics, but that is what was requested! :) I just don't like clowns, and the masks look a little clownish to me.....haha.

Updates

I haven't posted here in nearly a month! Well I haven't been able to accomplish much in the past few weeks with my art but I did some this weekend and hope to do a little more, maybe even finish a painting! I was planning to take a college course this fall at the local college but didn't get to do that this time around.

I am considering taking online courses through the Academy of Art University in San Francisco - it will take a few years to get an associates that way, but at least then I would have it. I can't decide between a traditional fine arts curriculum or a digital arts based program - either would be great. And they cater to mac users! Woo Hoo! It isn't cheap, so I would have to figure that out first, but at a couple classes a semester, it might be doable. It sounds like a great program, they don't try to cram everything into 5 weeks, it is on a traditional schedule and is accreditted.

work, school, etc.

Well I am a couple weeks or so into my new job and haven't yet gotten a chance to do the job I was hired to do because we have been trying to move into a new office with nothing but problems. Hopefully, we will be moved in by the end of this week - then things will calm down.

I hope to take a painting class at the college this semester - it will probably be pretty basic, but it will give me a chance to see what other artists are doing and maybe establish some contacts. I want to register Friday since classes start on the 21st and payment is due by then! With my luck the class will be full or cancelled. I wanted the Monday class but it looks like that one is full, unless they let me go directly into Painting II, which would probably be better for me. I do know some about painting already.

I am working on a new painting which is a type of self portrait - I am the model for it but I may not try to establish a likeness. Will see what evolves from it! I also bought a masonite artist panel but it is very smooth, and I am not used to the texture so I don't know what to put on it yet.

New Beginnings

Well I now work for a grant writing firm, which may be more condusive to my art! I am an office manager so there won't be tons of creativity involved but change is good! Insurance isn't very artsy obviously, at least this is a more creative environment with creative people. Will be fun I hope for at least the time being, then I am sure I will get antsy and want to start making a living from my paintings - if I find a way to do that. I must believe there is a way and it will come to me!

Well I remembered starting this Blog but did not realize how long it had been since my first and only post. Although I don't have all that much subject matter, I have done 5 or so paintings since that post and a few drawings. Trying to get the art flowing again - I have been seriously considering starting a Mural Painting business but have some ducks to get in a row first! I'm getting better and that's a good thing. Will post works here soon!
